Being more on Friday night

Today is Friday, and I always look forward to Friday evening PBS TV. I always watch a lineup of shows that keep me up to date on news issues and opinion. Here they are:

The Ivory Tower Half Hour: This is on the Syracuse PBS, WCNY, and features academics discussing local, state and national issues.

The McLaughlin Group: McLaughlin himself is too conservative for me, but I get a kick out of listening to liberal vs. conservative debate.

Washington Week: Gwen Ifill and her guests do a good job of analyzing the week’s events.

NOW: David Brancaccio picks most interesting and important topics, often ones not routinely discussed in our pop culture driven media. His co-host, Maria Hinajosa, is right on target.

Bill Moyers Journal: My favorite show on Friday night, I have followed Bill since he had the show NOW, mourned his leaving the air and rejoiced when he returned with his Journal. Now he has the freedom to pick exactly what he wants in terms of guests and topics and to say exactly what he wishes. I think this show is even better than his time on NOW.
